I just upgraded my PNY GeForce FX5200 Ultra to a Sapphire ATI 9800Pro Ultimate. I usually don't play any heavy duty 3-d games so I always left the advanced settings as they were. Now with the new ATI Catalyst driver there are all kinds of settings that I'm not sure what to do with. I normally want to leave the settings as best for my regular tasks like Photoshop, image editing, etc. Under the Catalyst 3D menu there is a slider for Performance - Balanced - Quality. Should I leave it at Performance for my regular computing tasks and then push it to Quality if I want to play games? I don't even want to venture into the more advanced options. I'm confused
![]() Also, the information section of the Catalyst lists this for my card: Core Clock in MHz: 378 MHz Memory Clock in MHz: 338 MHz THe Newegg product info lists this: Chipset/Core Speed: ATI RADEON 9800PRO/380MHz Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB DDR/680MHz Why is my memory speed only 338? Shouldn't it be in the 680 range? Any help would be appreciated! |

It's 680 DDR which is 340 base.
Why don't you just run the drivers at defaults and don't mess with them at all? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! |

Yes, the card seems to be working VERY well at the default settings. Looks like I'll happily leave them there.
