Lightbulb Sound card

I was wondering if anyone would comment on my particular setup.
I have a Soundblaster SB0090 with IEEE1394. This is not the recommended card for video editing since the 2 are combined and can cause trouble. The card also needs powered speakers to work properly. Since I don't have powered speakers and do not plan on buying any (I have some standard digital speakers), what are some new or used soundcards that would be the best bargain for video editing without powered speakers?
Thanks for any guidance

I'm beginning to see that most speakers are now powered.
Sniff...
