turn off mp10 automatic ripping

i am getting aggravated with the mp10 cause i cannot figure out how to keep it from ripping any cd i insert into the drive.
i have unchecked add files to media library under the player tab.
i have unchecked rip cd when inserted under the rip tab.
what is there i can uncheck that will finally solve this automatic ripping?
i do not EVER want to rip when i put in a music cd.
thanks,
alan

Mine has never ripped automatically. I see a checkbox under the "Rip Music" tab in the options menu that sayd "Rip CD when inserted". If you have that unchecked I don't know what else to say. It shouldn't be ripping CD's.

When you first insert a disc in XP it asks you 'what do you want to do' or something like that and you get some choices such as 'Import files to WMP', 'Open CD using Windows Explorer' 'make a copy with Nero' and such.

Have you enabled it to always rip a cd upon insertion? If you have, I have no idea what to do

I'm guessing that you may have at one time told autoplay to "rip CDs when inserted" and then checked "don't ask me again". Try going to My Computer and right clicking on the optical drive. First try to enable autoplay which will cause the "What do you want to do?" question to be asked whenever you insert a CD (in the event that you turned autoplay off) and see if somewhere you can turn off or disable the ripping in there. If that doesn't work you can also right click the optical drive in My Computer and choose "properties". Look around in properties for a ripping feature control. I had this problem too but I was able to stop it the way you already mentioned above by going into Media Player's Rip Music tab. Give that a shot and let me know if it worked!
