Need help installing a video card.

I'm trying to install a Nvidia geforce2 mx400 64mb video card but im having trouble with it. I downloaded the newest driver for it(66.94) but portions of the screen are missing or garbeled, and sometimes the moniter will flash off and on a few times before it stays off and the indicator light switches to standby(orange light next to power button). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a defective card, probably flaky video ram. Either that or your power supply doesn't have enough guts to power it. Is this a PCI or AGP card? What brand and model is the computer, or if it's generic, the brand and model of the motherboard? Brand and wattage of the power supply?

It's a AGP card, and a generic computer with a Tekram P6B40-A4X Motherboard. I'll have to check on the power supply and let you know.

Edit: It's a SPI(Sparkle Power Intl) with 235 watt output.

That has an Intel 440BX chipset, and the AGP slots on those can be kinda fussy. I'd advise you to update the bios on that board. I had to update the bios on my Asus P2B-F before it would accept a 4x AGP card. 235 Sparkle watts *should* handle it okay, but that is kinda light, I'd prefer to see 300 watts.

If a different power supply and an updated bios doesn't work, I'd say the card may be defective or just not compatible for some reason.
