PC Speakers
Hi
Can someone recommend some very good speakers for my computer? I need them to sound really good as it is for my job when I audition tracks on the PC for web as well as for off line. Price: Under $100.00 If possible I will like to pick them up locally maybe at Circuit City or one of the big local chains that sell them. I have a P4 3.25GHz 1.00 MB RAM XP Pro Thanks Dave |

You might try a search of recent threads on this topic for a host of recommendations. Check out www.newegg.com for a broad selection and better prices. Their shipping is very prompt, as well.

You won't get reference quality sound for $100. The closest you will get with PC speakers is the Klipsch ProMedia line. The Promedia 2.1's are the best 2.1 speaker you can get for under $500.

Don't know if others would agree, but from personal experience, the JBL/Harman Kardon speakers are top notch in respect to sound clarity - lines up just beneath the Klipsch IMO. You might take a look at the JBL Creature II 2.1 speakers - despite their somewhat odd shape.

Guys out of conveneince I went and bought the Logitech X-530 70WRMS 140W Peak.
They were in my hood so I went for it but I did ask them if it did not work out if I could bring them back and they said yes. I am about to do just that because though they are bottom heavy [not too clean though] the highs are no where near what I expected. I will go to Fry's today and see if I can find some better ones based on all the suggestions give here and will report back. I will try and persuade the investor to go up a bit if possible. Thanks very much everyone! Dave |

For what you are doing, you really need the Klipsch - or a set of high quality headphones. You also may need a decent sound card, such as an Audigy. Onboard sound quality is quite variable.

I have two Sony MDRV-6 Headphones. Very pleased with them. Very old model but they still make them.
I have a 8 Channel Voyetra Turtle Beach Catalina Sound Card. Not expensive but very clean output. I came back from Fry's and they don't have jack. I was hoping to find the speakers locally. Any stores recommended? How about CompUSA? Thanks Dave |

Usually the selection at stores is small and the prices high compared to a website like Newegg. I know my local Best Buy has the Klipsch speakers along with some other Logitech and Creative models.

If you don't need a subwoofer, what about these?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836119107 Free shipping, you are local so you should get them next day if they are in their CA warehouse. Gonna cost you sales tax though. I checked Mwave - because they have a will call - but they don't carry Klipsch. |
