AVI Screen Capture All Black

I'm running 2 PC's with windows xp pro and identical software. When running a screen capture program, one of the PC's generates an image from windows media player perfectly. The other machine only produces a blacked out image when running the same program. I'm guessing it's a hardware problem because both machines are running the same codecs, burning programs and media players. All other video related programs run perfectly on both machines. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be.

Try going in WMP and in the options menu go under the performance tab and set the video acceleration to none.
