Ordering Parts Tonight, 7800 GTX Help Please
I'm building a new gaming machine and I really wanted to use a BFG 7800 GTX but Newegg still doesn't have it in stock. I want to get the parts by this weekend so I can work on it. They have the eVGA one in stock and I hear it's good but it isn't as fast as the BFG one right out of the box. I hae never OC'd anything and I heard that voids the warranty. What should I do? Here is the parts I am ordering by the way:

The only thing I can suggest is order a cheap video card maybe a 6600GT or even lower end and wait for the one you want to become restocked.

I doubt a 100mhz difference in the memory clock speed will make too much difference, especially in a monster card like that. I would just go for the eVGA card. I trust them more than BFG anyway.

I am seriously considering just breaking down for the eVGA. I just like BFG because of the higher clock speeds and I had a BFG 6800GT and it worked great. I took it back today (had it for a month) to get my $430 back that I can spend towards the 7800 GTX. It was an AGP, so it had to go
Thanks for the replies. A little off-topic but do you think it's worth it to get the AMD 64 3700+ San Diego rather than the 3500+? I just want a good CPU to go along with a great 7800.

Jaguar...you might want to rethink the MOBO you are getting with the 7800, from one of the reviews on MSI for that mobo, is does not support the 7800 SLI
DONT BUY THIS 'SLI' BOARD http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?topic=82427.0 Very disapointed to find after the fact that SLI 7800 cards wont fit. Very bad move on MSI's part. This board is useless without the option to upgrade to the latest cards in SLI. Raw deal indeed, see link for more info. hope this help before you purchase the Mobo...id keep the VC and just look for another mobo...Gigabyte if i may suggest Last edited by KillerKong; 07-06-2005 at 08:59 AM. |

I read about that but they said it was fixed in any boards made after June 20th. Also, it only affect one of the PCI-e slots, I really have no plan to SLI two 7800's. I'm not rich.
