Angry Fire X800xl not running right

My brand new X800xl is running very slow in my new system, the other specs are as follows,

ASUS a8n sli deluxe mobo

AMD athlon 64 3800+

1gb ddr 3200 corsair ram

520 aspire power supply ( 36 amp on 12v )

I recently got everything put together and updated driver-wise, but i have been extremely dissapointed with my performence.

Counter strike source and half life 2 ran fine (90 fps)
But i have MAJOR issues with BF2, which is the main reason i upgraded my comp in the first place. The game only runs acceptably SOME of the time, and always in singleplayer. In multiplayer, and the majority of the time in singleplayer, the game skips, freezes, and after a while, turns to a blue screen and crashes the computer. Also one time i turnedon my pc, no 3d game would even launch, all of them either just crashed, or told me the openGL could not be initialized.

My opionion on all of this is that my card is lemon. If so, i am going to return it and go with a Nvidia card, so please give me your opinions and advice.

Thanks

If Half Life 2 runs at 90fps, your card is fine. Have you patched BF2? Its more likely a problem with the game not the card. Also have you downloaded the latest drivers for your card.
