Thumbs up Sound Card Question

Hello,

I have a SB Live 24 bit sound card in my pc and an hercules 5.1 sound card I don't use and wonder if adding it will help increase performance when running games.

Thanks.

Nope. Sounds cards don't have anything to do with gaming performance. They only affect the quality of sound inputs/outputs.

How about its hardware acceleration capability? Won't it help even a little, that the card will be using less cpu resource to produce sounds?

If anything very little - the sheer fact that the CPU is no longer responsible for providing processing power for the integrated sound proves to be the biggest performance booster. You would see very little, if any, performance jumps/dives by going with a different model sound card.
