Add new hardware headache

So I got a Sapphire Radeon x850 xt for my birthday. I uninstalled the Catalyst drivers for the 9600xt, installed the card and started up. The cd that Sapphire gave with it told me to install basic VGA display drivers before trying to install the drivers on the cd. I tried to but Windows wouldn't do so, so I just reinstalled the Catalyst 5.8 drivers and control panel i had from ati.com and restarted. The video card is detected on the restart but it keeps asking me to install new hardware even though i have the card set up. It's detected in display settings and under Device Manager but there are 2 Unknown devices in there too. When looking at the properties for both devices, it says Location: On Radeon x850 Series. What's going on? Are there drivers on the Sapphire cd that are supposed to be installed?

Have you uninstalled the driver yet? First, download Nasty File Remover. Next, go to your Add/Remove Programs list and uninstall the ATi driver and any other ATi related software. After that, restart your computer in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key upon bootup. Once you get into Safe Mode go to the "Find Files and Folders" tab under your start menu. Search for anything ATi and delete it. Next, you will run Nasty File Remover, it will pick up the rest of the junk left over from the driver uninstall. After that, restart like normal and install your drivers as you normally would. The above method works for nVidia cards as well, but when youre going through the "Find Files and Folders" tab make sure you read the descriptions of the files. If you dont, you may delete chipset drivers by accident. Nasty File Remover works with Ati, nVidia, and Creative drivers.

I actually reinstalled Windows today and repartitioned my hard drive so I'm starting fresh. Same problem. It looks like the unknown devices could be monitors the way it says On Radeon x850 Series? I don't know. I only have 1 monitor though.
