Regular DVI cable vs Monster DVI cable
I recently read this in a forum :
« Short answer, you're right, digital is digital, as long as the 1's and 0's get there, a $0.02 cable will perform EXACTLY as a $4 billion dollar Monster cable. » I’m looking for good DVI cable but I don’t want to pay 200$ for a Monster DVI cable. The sale's rep want to make me spend more in buying monster cable. The reason he told me it's because when you pay for a good video card with DVI output and a HDTV, we need to have the best cable available. Who can tell me if there is a real difference between these two types of cable ? Thanks Pjibe Last edited by pjibe; 09-29-2005 at 01:33 PM. |

I've worked in sales for over 30 years. Do you know how you can tell when a salesperson is lying? Answer: His lips are moving! Seriously, Monster brand cables may use better shielding and/or fancier coating but unless you choose a really inferior quality cable, I don't see the justifcation for the price difference. Same applies with USB and ethernet cables. I would use the less expensive DVI cable if it was my money.

My advice : Dont get the cheapest that comes in unwrapped with nothing more than a rubber band keeping it together, but at the same time dont put out 40$ on a cable.

As stated above... go for the mid-range stuff. If you were doing something with a professional or commercial need for perfect or near perfect transmission then perhaps. He just wants the extra commission
