Dell LCD Problem! Help!

Hello,

I have the 2005 widescreen Dell LCD, I think it's called Dell 2005FPW.
Here's the story: I was on my computer like normal, then I left everything on and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning, I tried moving my mouse and pressing keys on the keyboard to wake my LCD up. It doesn't wouldn't wake it, it would just be a blank screen with orange activity lights.

I figured the DVI cable was bad, so I tried the AGP cable and AGP mode, this works fine, but the resolution sucks on a LCD if you know what I mean. I ordered a new DVI cable from newegg, and it arrived today. I just tried the new cable out and it still doesn't work. It's like the LCD is in a permament power saving mode or sleep mode when trying to use DVI. It's very frustrating because I just bought this LCD like 4 months ago, and I don't have any kind of warranty.

Has anyone experienced anything like this with LCD's before, if so what should I do? I don't have another videocard or monitor to try that has DVI cables.

My specs:
ABIT NF7-S
AMD 3000 no overclocking
1 gig OCZ echanced bandwidth DDR3200
PNY Geforce 6800 GT
Running Windows XP Pro SP2

I would appreciate any comments, I can give more info if needed.

Thanks

I am going to assume that your vid card has both analog and digital connectors. Also you know it's not the dvi cable now so you need to isolate the problem. See if you can get a hold of a dvi to analog adapter. Most video cards come with them now. If you dont have one maybe a friend does, or a local computer shop may even give you one to keep or use. Connect your monitor from analog to the dvi connector on your video card. That should help isolate the problem and tell you if it is the dvi connector on the vid card or on the monitor. From there you will need to either replace the vid card :crosses fingers: or the monitor (gulp). Hope this helps.

A little off topic, but I've never noticed much difference between analog and dvi on my lcd. If you're seeing a big difference, something is definitely wrong and I would suspect the lcd.

There won't be a huge difference on small LCDs between VGA (analog; not AGP) and DVI (digital), however, you'll notice a big difference on a high-res widescreen monitor. I would try another video card if possible, or another monitor with digital input.
