Acer AL1714 lcd problem

I have a Acer AL1714 17" lcd monitor. Bought it new at NEWEGG.COM and had this baby for over 9 months. Worked flawlessly all this time even while gaming.

Today while playing Call Of Duty online it just went black. The green light was on but nothing else. I turned it off and then back on again. Noticed that the usual Acer logo that comes up when you turn it on did not show. it just remained black. So I figure it isn't a Vid card related problem, but a monitor one. But just to make sure I will switch out the monitor for another one (have to ask my Uncle for a loner) and try it out.

Was thinking could it be the backlight/bulb that went bad? Do they go bad this fast? Is there any way to check this out?

Thanks for listening/reading. Any help would be appreciated.

Should still be under warranty, shouldn't it?? Just get it replaced if it does turn out to be the monitor.

I don't believe LCD monitors (of this type) have a backlight. Besides, you'd still be able to see the output.

LCD update

OK... here is what happened. I got home and turned on the monitor hoping it had healed itself LOL. It didn't work just like I explained before. You might say... well DUH! But wait here is the kicker. I started to disconnect it from my pc. Had just disconnected the power cord from the back of the monitor. When a little voice deep inside (gut feeling) said try it again. So I did...well low and behold it worked. I'm using it right now as I type this and it is working fine .
What the hell could have happened? Was it my ATI 9800 Pro card that caused this? Is there some kind of safety switch to these things? Or was it a glitch?

Well I'm just glad it is working again. I was a bit bummed out since I tried to find the purchase invoice from newegg.com and didn't find it. I recently moved and I think I lost it in the process along with some other pc related papers/CDs.

Just in case it does go on the fritz again and I need to send it in. Does anyone know if newegg keeps copies of invoices of things they sold upto a year? Do they send out copies if asked by a cutomer?

Thanks everyone for the replies.
