Slow Scrolling Problem

I just got done building my new computer: Sempron 64 2800, 512 MB Corsair PC3200, Asus K8V-MX with onboard video, Win XP home. Overall the build is working out well, however I have one problem in Internet Explorer. Scrolling up and down a page is very slow and choppy. My previous internet computer was much slower (256 MB RAM, 380Mhz K6-2) but had no scrolling problems at the same 1024x768 resolution--it was very "fluid." I am using the same monitor from the previous computer. The monitor is an older EMC 17" CRT. Is my "choppy" scrolling a result of using the old (~5 years) monitor, or do I have a problem with the display settings on my new build? Thanks in advance everyone.

Try enabling/disabling the option for Smooth Scrolling in IE. I also believe there is a setting for "Smooth Scroll Windows" (or something like that) in the System Display Properties in the Control Panel.

if uer using xp for an os then go to control panel, click the mouse icon go to WHEEL category and increase the number..this will move more lines or pages per spin..so that it doesnt take 50 rotations to move one page. as for the choppy part, im not sure

Have you installed the drivers for the video card/onboard video? If you haven't done so this is the most likely cause. The generic display driver in Windows causes very slow scrolling.
