Hi all
I'm hoping someone here can help me as I'm stumped by this. My setup is in my sig but I'm running an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard through my stereo. The stereo is a 5.1 surround sound Sherwood amp. The two are linked using 6CH Direct and the associated cabling hell that entails. I only appear to be able to able to make my PC play via the front left & right channels no matter what I do. I've checked the manuals for the card and the stereo and everything is hooked up okay. The speaker calibration tool that comes on the driver CD recognises all my speakers as present and correct and they pass all tests (sound from every one and in the right place!). So why when I play music through Media Player v10 does the sound only come from the front?! Can anyone please suggest anything that might be causing this? Many thanks J

When you play back DVD movie, do you get only stereo? Or is it only with CDs?
What happens if you switch CMSS on? This should upmix stereo to surround |

It happens with all types of media. It's becoming a little frustrating!
I just cannot figure out what it is. I've tried CMSS to no effect as well. Could it be some kind of setting in Media Player? Whilst I'm on it - can anyone recommend any decent (free) alternatives to WMP? It can't be the best out there! Cheers |

Check to make sure that the settings in Windows are set for 5.1 sound (volume control > properties). When I play music in WMP 10 sound comes from four channels. Personally I prefer stereo and therefore I set my receiver to stereo when playing music from my PC via the digital input. Have you tried ProLogic mode on the receiver? ProLogic will decode the surround information in the music and sounds quite good.

My Creative Audigy 2ZS is doing the same thing. Rear outputs inop.
Creatives Support is Pathetic. I e-mail back on 11/4 about a Driver for the Modem. I need one for Windows 64. Still waiting for a response. Chris |

He said the tests show that all the speakers are working correctly. That reminds me, what about games?

I just checked Cretives website. The Ring Assignments.
Line out #1 is Standard Stereo Line out #2 is Rear L/R and Right side Line out #3 is Center/Sub and Left side Wonder if this isnt the problem? I tried using Headphones for testing. Fronts work. Not the others. Chris |

Just tried my Logitech Z640 speakers. Only the two front side speakers work. So I contacted Creative support. Let see if they get back to me?
I am running XP64, Had to download drivers from Creative. But they dont come with the Media Source. Chris |

Found the Media Source in the Downloads. I have CMSS enabled. Now I have output from all ports.
Question. This is Software Emulated surround sound? What I asking is that I wont have the full Dolby effect? Chris |
