logitech or altec??
well i want to get some 5.1 speakers and decided on any of these 2

Of those two I would go with the Logitechs. The Altec Lansing speakers haven't impressed me much. The Logitech's are decent. If you can spend a bit more, go for THESE Creatives. They have an advantage with their two way design (seperate tweeters).

i will be usind this for surround sound and thought the altec would be beter because of the remote but im leaning towards the logi they are better so any more reviews here?

personally, i havent done much research on speakers but from what i have read, logitechs seem to have good quality for a great price. altec lansings arent bad but i would go with the logitechs because of the consitently good reviews and people saying that the sound quality is superb.

well i got the logitechs and they sound great but i cant hear any bass on the 4 drivers just on the sub so i guess is my graphiccs card so i need to get a good creative card recomend me one.

You mean sound card? The graphics card has nothing to do with sound.
Your system is a 5.1 system. That means there are 5 satellites (2 front, 1 center, 2 rear) and a subwoofer. The five satellite speakers are small and they are not supposed to produce bass below a certain frequency. They simply can't do it. That's where the subwoofer comes in. The sub is only supposed to produce bass and nothing more. If you have your speakers setup properly there should be a relatively seamless blend between the subwoofer and the satellites. In a really good system, you wouldn't be able to point out the sub at all because it blends that well. |

yea i mean sound card its just that im getting a bit frustrated with my 6600gt but thats all well my system is running very good sound is great and any distortion i have integrated audio and i think i need a new sound card im thinking of the creative soundblaster live i can affort it i just wanna know if its going to make a big difference in sound quality my speakers support dolby digital 5.1/6.1/7.1 so i guess that card its great and also what kind of difference am i going to experience i just have this speakers on top of my desk meanwhile till i go to homedepor for a few screws and mounting hardware then i will drill some holes on the wall and mount them the speakers sound great but i wanna know if they will sound better when i place them in each corne and when i get the card my stock card is a AC'97 so i think it sucks a bit?

A soundcard can make a difference in sound quality. I would go for, at least, the SoundBlaster Live 24bit. If you can, go for the Audigy 2 Value. It's $40 after mail-in rebate.

Dolby Digital 5.1 is a sound format. It is the standard for DVD's. 6 channels (5 satellites and the low frequency) are compressed into a stream of data. A decoder extracts all of the sound and sends it to the correct channel.
Some DVD's have DTS, which is based on the same principle. The main difference is that it has a higher bit-rate. |
