Sony Monitor - SDM-HS75P/S
Hello - This is my first post for this site and I hope this isn't a dumb question!
We just purchased a new 5 MP digital camera, photo printer, etc. We are currently using a Dell Optiplex GX110 (600mhz, 256 MB ram, Windows 98, 14" CRT monitor - 28 dot pitch, etc.) and I have discovered it's now time to upgrade our system to a faster system running Windows XP. So, in the next 2 to 3 months I plan on purchasing a new computer (3 ghz or better, 1 GB ram, etc.) and monitor. Although we are NOT into gaming, I would really like a monitor that is easy to view and would also show the details of our digital photos. Having said that, I have run across what I consider an extremely good buy on a Sony monitor with X Brite technology: SDM-HS75P/S (.264 dot pitch and other great specifications). First, I would like to think this is a great monitor even for a general use user such as myself ..... correct? Secondly, if I purchased the monitor now and used it with our current system until I found the "right" computer, would it perform alright with Win98 and our current hardware. I guess I am wondering if the monitor will come with the necessary software and/or drivers for our Win98 system ...... thoughts? And last, the monitor has connections for analog and digital inputs. The new computer we ultimately purchase will probably NOT have DVI inputs. Does this mean the picture quality will suffer greatly? The video images looked extremely good on the display model in the store, which is why I am willing to pay the extra for this monitor. Based on what I have written, would I be pleased with this monitor with our current system as well as our not so far future system? Hopefully, someone has experience with this model. Thanks for any and all comments! TVL |
