sound card question!!

ok my uncle gave me a soundcard but i dont know if its anygood. on it it says soundblaster sb0100 5.1 live. i want to know if its even worth replacing with my intergrAted on in my abit av8. i just got new speakers there logitech z55000 or what ever, if i put it in wil them make it sound better?? here is a pic of it

so do u think its worth replacing the intergrated one with?
also do i have to plug anywires into it?, or do i just plug it into the pci slot and its all set.

well, using integrated sound chews some processing power, but not much. having a sound card alleviates these calculations and should give a minor increase in performance. also, what date is that sound card? it looks pretty decent and should be the equivalent if not better than integrated. id recommend installing it and seeing how it goes. you never know til you try.

bump for the do i have to plug anywires into it or do i just plug it into the pci slot, i want to install it soon. also i couldnt find a year on the card, where should i look? it had a label on back with the model # and everything but i didnt see a year.

Looks like my card...you just toss it in. Download the drivers from the Creative website, you'll need those. I think it's a little bit better than onboard sound, and it takes a load of the CPU.

ok thanks, thank god i dont havr to plug anylittle wires into it. o and i shouldve said i have the drivers on a disc already.

thats a decent ca5rd maybe better than most onboard cards so i recomen using that instead of the integrated one.

ok i hooked up the sound card it reconzed it and it stalled the drivers. i dont know if its any better, the bass sounds a little louder but idk i think its just my mind. should i install the new driver from the wen site or should it be fine with the ones windows gave it. lol and is there anyway to tell if the sound is really any better.

You could try the newest drivers...but those probably only fix actual problems. The only way to tell is your own ears (I'm sure there's some super fancy equipment you could use, but...)
