Did my monitor just die on me ?!?!

I was sitting here working away on my computer when all of a sudden the screen flickered and now everything has a green hue to it. It's a flat screen CRT. I'm suspecting it's going out as I have tried another monitor hooked to this comp and it works fine. I can't seem to correct the color back so I fear the worst.

A few years ago lightning decided to send a surge down the powerbar where my old system was running. after the monitor came back to life there was this ugly yellow hue to the screen and the depth of that yellowy hue would frequently change. My guess is that some of the circutry controlling the colors on the screen was damaged.

Before you condemn it, try degaussing. And make sure you don't have a sub-woofer sitting nearby. Good luck, QS!

What would that do? Noise Interference?

The magnet for the speaker would mess up the image on the screen.

Heh yeah that makes sense. it made me think as my sub is directly beside my monitor, but my monitor is an LCD, so I reckon im good.

I'd try the degaussing first, like PR said, but if that doesn't work it could be going out. Do you notice some of the red colors missing? My first monitor I ever owned had the red gun go out on it and everything ended up with a greenish gray hue.

As for the sub affecting the video, yeah, I experienced that last night. I got a new set of speakers for Christmas and I *thought* I had placed the sub far enough away from my monitor (a good 7 inches away with a wooden divider in between the sub and the monitor). Next thing I know, I look at the monitor and instead of my browser bar being totally blue, it faded from blue on the right side to purplish-pink on the left side. Kinda cool looking actually but it did that to my icons too! Moved it further away and it's fine now.
