SLI Question

i dont know if this is the correct place for this thread, but i want to know something:

im ordering, very soon, a new PC with all the parts. A couple of the parts are a 6800GS and a 430 watt Thermaltake PSU (not SLI approved) and an A8N-SLI motherboard. The price of the PSU is 40 bucks and the price of the motherboard is 122.

Say that once i get my PC parts, put it all together, and in about 10 months i feel i need to get SLI. Do i really need to change my PSU? Even if it was like 500 watts, and not SLI approved, would i still need to change the PSU to sli-approved?

There are probably cases where you don't need to, however, I wouldn't go with any that isn't SLI approved - it is a precausonary measure to assure that if you hook up a non SLI PSU and everything blows, you should have had one that was already approved.

If that Thermaltake isn't ATX 2.0 with a 24 pin main ATX connector, I wouldn't even run a single PCI-E card with it. There are certain items that you should not try to cut costs to the bone on, and a PSU is one of those items. If you look around you can find decent SLI-certified power supplies for around $85 now.

Yep, but not SLI-certified.
