Is my onboard sound 5.1?
I do not know what sound my board supports even after visiting the manufacturers website I can't understand all the lingo. It says it has Realtek ALC850 8 channel codec. I went to realtek site and I still don't know. Any help would be appreciated I just want to know what onboard sound I have before I invest in a sound card that I may or may not need.

Dr.Gonzo you are my savior today. Thanks for answering both of my posts...I want to hook a set of headphones that can do surround any recommendations? I want a good set for gaming and do I need a sound card or is that on board gonna be good enough?

You should at least try the onboard sound before you get a sound card. Most of the time it is more than adequate. I don't have any recommendations for headphones.
