SERIOUS Radeon 9800 Pro Problem!!!

I know everyone thinks their problems are serious, but this one is intense.

I run a athlon 64 bit 2200+, 1.5 gig ram, yada yada yada... The system worked fine for about a year. My power supply died and I didn't konw if that wass the problem. To fix things, I took the parts inside out and looked around. I've done this before and was confident that it would be okay. When I put everything back together, the system would start up with an alternate power supply. However, once windows started up, it would flash black and restart. Sometimes it started up but white lines would go up and down the screen. It wasn't working. It worked in safe mode fine though. I tried to re-install the drivers but it gave me an error, saying something about VGA or drivers.

The worst problem is that my roommate saw that I wasn't using the card so he tried it in his system and it crashed his system too. now his computer won't work.

Any ideas on what this is and how to fix it? It's breaking everyone's computers!

If it's still on warranty, get a RMA and send it in for repair - if not, throw it away.

Damn!

Any idea what's the problem?

I heard owners of this card are having these problems.. so are cards systematically being thrown out by their owners?

When the power supply died it probably killed the card. What was the brand and wattage of the PSU?

Can you also be specific with what type of Radeon 9800 Pro you have? A full sys spec including the PSU brand/wattage would help.

I would HOPE that their owners are returning them for warranty service. I believe most ATI cards have a 5 year warranty.
