Video Card fan stops when plugging in monitor: No video.
Basically here's the problem. Last week tuesday I take a nap before class, monitor is off, everything's dandy. I wake up, turn the monitor on, picture shows up, but I can't do anything, it's like the screen froze. I turn it off, fine, turn it back on, no video shows up. So I ask around and people think it's the motherboard. I go and buy a nice cheap little motherboard, no problem, hook it up, the same thing happens, plug in the monitor cable and all I get is the screen that says "check signal cable" or whatever.
Now before you say it's the monitor, I've tried two different ones aside from the one that I have. If you say it's the Graphics card, I tried two, a radeon 9600 which I have stashed away, and the current 9800. **One thing I have noticed is when I switch to the 9600, which doesn't require a power cable, I turn on the computer, the graphics card fan spins, but once I plug in the vga cord, the video card fan shuts down. |

Have you tried another cord from the monitor to the video card?
