I plan to buy a new video card. Currently, I am using Sapphire ATI 9600XT 128 MB DDR AGP 4X/8X. It has 500 Mhz on core and 300 (600) MHz on Memory Clock. I wonder if I bought video card which it had bigger memory clock, it could increase my computer performance.
Currently, my computer is: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 1 GB DDR PC3500 (433) (2x512) Albatron KX400-8X Sapphire ATI 9600XT 128 MB DDR Creative Sound Blaster 64-bit. 2x 60 GB Western Digital Hard Drive. Windows XP SP2 Professional Edition. Saitek X52. Currently, I am playing FS2004, Lock-On, Falcon 4.0: Allied Forces, Flanker 2.5, Joint Operation: Typhoon Rising, Joint Operation: Typhoon Rising (Escalation), Gunship, Jane's F/A-18E, Jane's F-15, and Delta Force: Xtreme. I want to set all my games on high setting. The question is which should I look for video card with high memory clock or high physical memory? |

It won't increase your computer performance, but it will improve your video/gaming performance.
What you should buy is going to depend on your budget. The core and memory clock speed, physical memory, and pipelines ALL have an effect on performance. how much are you willing to pay for a card? Give us a budget and we can make suggestions to maximize your $$$ investment.

The best AGP gaming card under $250 is a Nvidia 6800GS. The X1600 isn't much better than your 9600XT. ATI doesn't have any AGP cards that can compete with the 6800GS.
