strange noise emitting from speakers??

hi guys. my laptop is emitting a strange electrical noise whenever the screen is static. i tried muting the speakers but to no avail. i know that the noise is coming from them as i used a program that monitors noise output from the speakers. the thing is that the noise stops for a few seconds whenever i change web page for example and then starts again. any ideas?

is it a constant humm?
is it a crackling sound?
does it happen everywhere (when you take your laptop somewhere else) or only in that one spot?

no its not the cell phone causing interference and it happens all the time when (i think) the processor isnt doing anything- i.e idle time. the noise is not crackling but more of a starting&stopping quiet pc beep.
