Pretty good deal for 100 dollars on your end. New boards are running 'round there. I'm not sure how much you got it for though.

7800GT. You can't wait for everything new to come out, and if you get the directx 10 cards. You will have to use Windows VISTA. I would just go with the 7800GT, and EVGA is having great sales. 470,1100: $274.

Great deal if you'll ask me. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130249

The directx10 cards i believe probably will be overpriced and will make you most likely convert to windows vista.

but will i be able to use a directx 9 card with a directx 10 os like vista. i am most likely going to buy vista anyways, and is there a lot of difference between the 6600gt and the 6800gs becuase i am starting to think that the 7800gt is too expensive

I would guess that the OS will be backwards compatible (it should accept the DX9 cards). Where it "might" be an issue is in future games that utilize DX10. In that case, you might not get all the features, but the game will usually still play on the card. Case in point is COD2, where it is a DX9 game but will play on a DX7 setting for those with older cards.

It is a definate upgrade, I guess it depends on your interpretation of "major". You should see a difference (less lag and ability to play at higher settings) than a 6600GT. JMO.

brand new 6600GTs are only about 120-130 dollars. so half of that is fair for a used one, in my opinion.
