A-y-cable?
Is there a cable available to hook up two computers to one display ? I don't want to run two computers at the same time just switch from one to the other.

You need a KVM Switch. They let you share a keyboard, monitor and mouse between 2 or more computers. Just hook up the monitor cables and you're all set. http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Su...ubCategory=143

Is it better to get a KVM with external power or usb power?

Neither. The KVM's I use are strictly PS/2 and powered through the keyboard connectors.
