Geforce 7800GTX vs 7900GT
I have heard that the 7900 GT out performs the 7800 GTX. Is that correct?
I am looking at getting a new video card and was going to go with the 7800 GTX for about $450, but why do that if the 7900 GT is better for only $300 range... |

Actually, the 7800GTX outperforms the 7900GT, but not by much.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/...em/page11.html http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/...ii/page18.html Those are two reviews that you can see for PCMark05 benchmarks. The 7800GTX has about another 500 points on full settings above the 7900GT, which isn't a very big difference. Therefore, I would go with the 7900GT because you will be saving money.

Cool! Great, thanks. That's good to know. Just for the record, the 7800GTX has like 900 on the 7900GT. Can't the 7900's be OCed like the 7800 can? Or are they locked?

Only if you are a HARD hardcore gamer. If you play for 4 or 5 hours per day then you might notice the 4 to 5 frames per second, but other than that you probably wont notice it. You can OC the 7900 just becareful whith how much coolng you have. The best nvidia company to try and oc with is BFG Tech.

I just bought an EVGA 7800GTX KO for $290! That is already OCed to 490/1300, so I won't try to OC it much more.
