Is it possible to disable monitor auto config?

Hi all-

I have an Acer AL1711 monitor that is great from the standpoint of viewing area, resolution and price. However, whenever the screen content changes (POST to OS loading to OS sign on to full screen games) i get a Auto Config... Please Wait message. I wouldnt mind except for two things. First, it auto configs so i cant see the left 1/4" of the screen and second, it seems to cause problem with games loading. Games that dont like to be switched out of (ie FEAR, Quake, Unreal) usually flip out when the monitor goes through this auto config. Even though this only happens once per program execution, it is still rather upsetting. Is there any way to disable that setting on the monitor?

I checked the user's guide and couldnt find anything. Figured i would ask here before contacting tech support.
