Best geforce or ati video for buck
I got a friend that just bouth a computer and he has the ati intergrated 200 chip. He tried to play fear and games like quake 4 but they were pretty much laggy even at lowest settings and looked bad!! . I even tried myself to play on his computer and it was almost impossible. His cpu is ok its amd 64 3500+, more than enough for those games and he has enough ram(1 gb) Believe me he would need a video card. I know his machine and i know that that is the problem. The kid looked kinda sad n pissed off after he got the computer cause he spend all that money and didnt know much........
His birthday is coming up soon and i had extra money lying around n im not planning to do anything with it. I was gonna go ahead and get him a video card. He has pci express slot. Can you guys suggest a best bang for buck video card (ati or nvidia...really makes no difference) that i can buy. One that he will at least be able to play some games like fear, quake 4 and those type of graphic games. Is there anything like maybe for about 250 to 300$ CAD. |

Best bang for the buck with ATI is the X800GTO. I found this one for $213CAD. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...cture=SAPPHIRE
Make sure his power supply can handle the extra load.

I'd go for the 6800 only because it supports SM3.0, whereas you have to get to the X1***X series of ATI cards for the same thing. JMO.

Ok how does the ati x1300 sound. Is that at about the same level as the geforce 6800?

It's not really a gamers card but it is good for a multimedia pc. If your friend wants an ATI card his best bet would be the X1600XT. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...cture=SAPPHIRE It's sm3 and it does a good job in FEAR and in Oblivion.
