Enableing onboard soundcard?
Hi.
Recently, i've been fixing up my old Gateway G-6 350 for my sister. I had installed a PCI soundcard originally, because at the time, the onboard card sucked for games. It kept conflicting with the onboard card, so I had to take it to a tech to do it for me. Only thing I noticed he did was change the Integrated Audio Controller to DISABLED under the BIOS. Everything was then fine. Fast foward to present. Upon starting up the old thing again, it was having lots of problems starting up, so I just reinstalled Windows98 completely. Well, the PCI sound card is now having IRQ conflicts, for whatever reason. It didn't before, and I don't know anything about IRQs. So I tryed to just reinstall the onboard soundcard. I went to ENABLE under the BIOS....but the system isn't finding it. I tryed manually "Installing new hardware" and nothing. I even tryed the Restoration Disk and it doesn't have any drivers for the soundcard, only video and keyboard/mouse. Is there something else I need to enable? Maybe something on the motherboard? |

there's usually a setting in the bios where your onboard sound didicated to a particular IRQ try look for these settings and change them

Nope, looked there. Only things about IRQ was whether or not to make available or not available. They're all set to available. I selected the "Use Default Settings" option before saving...so shouldnt everything be set to the factory defaults? I dont get it...
