TV Problem
hey, didn't know any other site to post this so figured I'd try here.
I have a Konka TV (KK-Y26IN) and it's had a problem for a while now that is bothering the hell out of me. Basically, the picture doesn't fit the screen. It happened all of a sudden - the left and right sides extend a bit beyond the contents of the screen. I've gone through all the settings on my TV and still can't figure it out. Anyone got any ideas or know how to reset settings to factory? Thanks |

If this is a TV with a picture tube, then you probably have a component in an image alignment circuits going bad. If it is a LCD or plasma, then there may be some adjustment like with a computer monitor.

Not a Plasma or LCD - would the only solution be to take it into a shop?

Unless you can find geometry adjustments somewhere, yep.

Got any idea how much this would cost? Or since it's been a while, anyone got any different ideas?

TV/electronic repair shops probably charge$40 to $60 an hour for repair. If the TV is several years old, it may not be worth fixing. If they would need to replace a major component like the crt yoke or high voltage supply, it could about equal a new TV.

You can probably buy a cheap TV at Walmart for what it would cost you to get it professionally serviced. Wouldn't hurt to take it in for an estimate - if it's more than you want to pay, just leave it there. I bought a cheapo Orion 20 inch at Walmart for 89 bucks a couple years ago - it works fine.
