Widescreen Monitors??

Hi guys,

I was wondering, what would the benefits be if I bought a 19 in Widescreen monitor or a 19in normal monitor? what is the difference? Would it look nicer for gaming? i doubt it, but i would like to ask.

I am running a Geforce 6600 and soon I will be getting a 7800

EDIT:
I currently have a Sony Trinitron Multiscan E400 and I am getting boredof it since it takes up so much space!

If you go for a wide screen, you need to make sure that the video card supports the native resolution. I believe some games support wide screen and older ones probably don't.

I just got a 19" widescreen (today!) and it looks great. Movies looks really nice and the extra desktop space is nice. However, if your gaming, I would go with the regular screen. Like flanzig said, most games don't support widescreen yet.

Ive heard..

I have heard that their is software that will automatically adjust your screen to 4:3 or wtv that is for standard LCDs. I will be playing Counter-strike, CS Source, Splintercell Chaos Theory, and mostly new games. Is it true that there is software that will adjust my screen?

THanks guys

I have a widescreen LCD and the games look nice - although it looks a little wider than norm but to me it's not that big of a deal.
