Ripping from a DVD to make a Video
I am creating a video montage for a friend.
They have given me several DVDs with their kid playing soccer, birthdays, etc. I'm using Proshow Gold to make the slide show and video but I have no idea how I can take the DVD and pull off little 30 second clips here and there. Any suggestions? I wanted to just take the DV tapes and import using my gfx card but since they put it all on DVD they no longer have the originals. Thanks

Hi,
there are tools that can do that. I've used DVD Decrypter for this, you can use it as well. In IFO Mode, Stream Processing, you can extract MPEG Video and the Audio Track off the DVD, and then cut it just like any other MPEG (with Cuttermaran or whatever video editing application you use that supports MPEG) to get the pieces you want. Hi
I use VideoReDo to create MPEG2 Streams and then use and then use VirtualDub-MPEG2 to convert the MPEG 2 Streams into compressed AVI files using normally the DIVX Codec. They are both pieces of Freeware so just PM me and i can give you links to them and also PM if you need any more help. Both pieces of software allow you to cut the video so you can create those 30 sec clips you want to Hope that helps you!!
