External Gaming PVR having curios issues

My friend boguht an Adaptec Gamebridge 1410, and he's having issues with it. For background info, the gamebridge isa small device that plugs into USB that enables a person to play video game consoles on their PC, as well as hook up video devices (like a vcr) to a PC. You can also set it to record your game playing, and it has a TV tuenr so it can record tv, all using the Intervideo Home Theater software it comes with.

Now on to the problem. I hook it up, the PC reads it and the whole installation process goes easy and smooth as the instructions say it will. But then when you try to use it, things fall apart. To use it you have to start the Intervideo Home theater software that was installed when you installed the device. On my friend's computer, when you run the software, it opens and crashes immediantly. I've tried re-installing, no better. I did discover though, that if you log out and log in as administrator, the software runs fine, however once you get in the device still shows no video feed when it should be, the audio does work though.

I brought it all over to my house and installed it and my PC did the exact same thing my friend's did, crashes when I run it on my username (which is as an administrator), but if I log out, and log in as administrator, the software runs, but the video feed just shows lines across the screen. The audio does work though.

I figure I'll be contacting adaptec tech support and probly trying to send it back, but does anyone have any ideas?

both my friend's PC and mine are running windows xp pro, his PC being a pentiumD 820, with 1gb ram, 160gb HD, dvdrw, unknown intel mobo (its a dell dimenson 5150)

my PC specs are in my signature.

fqpissed Get a working GameBridge + Vista Installation Help

If the program keeps crashing on their system and they Installed as A Non Administrator, certain Drivers and files won't be copied over from the installation disk.
The device won't Work. So be sure they are under Administrative control, And if the program launches just fine then just go to
device manager.
1. Look for The Device,
2. make sure the installation disk is inserted,
3. right click on The device,
4. Update/look for drivers
5. Install drivers manually
6. Make sure the driver Path is the Same as your CD drive "the one with the driver disk in it"
7. Click Next/OK
8. click on the windows XP driver, and then click on Next/Finished
9. That’s IT you should have a working TV tuner & AV input device Now
10. Enjoy!

Windows Vista
If they have Windows vista and hat keeps happening and they are under Administrator but they keep getting messages before they install it to proceed with launching the setup.exe. You have to shut that security Option off under The profile/User in control panel.
Once the Device is installed and has the Windows XP Drivers installed It should work ok.
There is a downside to not have the right drivers Installed on the system, and that is Getting The Blue screen when you Launch the device after a while, and combing back onto the computer after being in hibernation mode for 2 long. It sux ass.

If any one knows Of any Windows Vista drivers Or Hacked drivers to work with Vista PLZ help.
