Games consoles on monitor
Anyone know if its possible to buy a PC card and play a games console through the monitor...so I can use my nice shiny TFT and get rid of the bulky TV?
Do TV cards have any kind of delay that would hinder the game and do they have the correct connections? Id love to hear of some recommendations if anyone can make any. Thanks, Tom |

I tried running my Xbox through my Radeon video input and there was a good couple second delay. It was unplayable for me.

What inputs does your monitor have? ou might be able to get a converter from RCA to something your monitor can handle. But sadly running a console into a TV Tunner doesn't work all that well. There is a good few second lag that makes it imposible to use. I had the same idea of running my PS2 into my home theater PC, but ya it doesn't do it.

Well I'm not sure about the graphics card, but depending on the input slot on your monitor you can buy a converter cable to run you're console through you're monitor. That is what I do with my xbox 360. You get near HD quality picture but you only spend about 20 rather than 3000!

Thanks for the information guys.
I think I will give that one a miss for now lol. I'm sure they will reach a stage where theres no delay eventually, but for now I will have to stick with my big TV. |

Hi,
what console is it ? The consoles on the market don't have the same connections, so it's helpful to know which one it is. You might be able to connect the console directly to the monitor. Otherwise, a cheap TV card will do. There won't be a delay with simple TV cards. The TV cards where you can experience a delay are the ones with an MPEG encoder. As MPEG encoding takes some time, you'll get a delay. But no MPEG encoder = no delay. I have my GameCube connected to my TV card. RJ
