webcams
I am really looking for some advice from anyone! I just bought my hubby a laptop and a webcam so he can talk to our kids when he is away. He goes online via bluetooth /cellphone and we have a l XPS at home hooked up to DSL. We both have new logitech cameras (diff models) and when we go online and IM with msn messenger the cameras have a "strobe" effect and the sound cuts in and out. This is very frusterating for all of us and I have called the computer Mnfg as well as, logitech. Logitech tells me that their sofware is not compatable with Window XP Media Edition but my hubby has the home Edition and I have the Media. We do not think it has anything to do with this. The computer Mnfg. told me that this is normal with webcams and we will not get a "fluid" viewing. Does anyone else deal with this? Is there a special webcam we can buy to avoid this?? Any help WILL help!!!

His cellphone connection is probably too slow to get any kind of decent framerate or throughput.

Many hotels today have network connections in the rooms, that would be the ideal connection to make to send and recieve webcam video.
