A second opinion on my graphics card please

Hi,

I don't think this is a duplicate thread, my last one was on which graphics card to buy, whereas this one is just to check I have come to the right conclusion on my old one.

I believe my current graphics card has died and I just want to make sure I am right and that it is not actually the MB or something like that.

The symptoms: I was downloading for a few hours the other night and fell asleep. Woke up in the morning and the computer was still on but the screen was blank. I assumed it was on standby or sleep so moved the mouse and hit a few keys but still it was blank. This has happened a few times over the last year or so and so I switched off the computer and started it up again - previously when this has happened switching off and restarting brings it back to life.

I see the startup proceedure running - the keyboard lights up, the sound comes on, then when I expect the text to appear on the screen it doesn't.

This time it started up with a blank screen and does so each time. Sometimes the fan on the graphics card doesn't come on atall, and sometimes it comes on for a few seconds then stops.

I have assumed this means the graphics card it at fault but please could someone give me a second opinion before I go out and buy that nVidia 7800.

Try the card in a friend's computer or have a tech store test it.
That will tell you if it's at fault.
