PC Wont Recognise DV Camera

I have a Sony DCR-PC110e Camera. The only drivers that came with it were for windows 98, but becuase its a high-end camera itsa still supported by Adobe Preimiere Pro 1.5.

I plug the FireWire/IEEE1394/iLink cable (what ever you want to call it) into the camera and then into the computer. The camera registers "DV In/Out" but the computer refuses to admit that its connected.

The camera works becuase I've used it on other ocmputers, and on this computer a few months ago.

The Firewire ports work becuase I've used them to update my iPod.

Sony don't provide a specific DV Driver for firewire, on a USB streaming utility that I can't get to work.

I think I've tried anything, but any sugestions would be really helpfull,

Thanks alot

I believe windows xp has built in support for dv link cameras. No driver is needed. Is the camera on when you connect it? Do you have another 1394 device to test the port with?

The camera is on, and playing, though i've tried every opther combination available. I've used an iPod to test the 6 pin port, but I don't have anything to test teh 4 pin with.

I've been trying both ports with the camera.
