X-fi crapped out on me...
Well, just recently my soundcard has stopped making any sound. I've tried different speakers and neither worked so that rules out that potential problem. Could it be something along the lines of too mucch dust on the card or could it be something else?

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled it yet? It may just be corrupted drivers.

i had a few audio problems lately after a windows update.
in control panel>sounds and audio device> audio tab the selected sound card output took about 3-4 times (after switching tabs audio+voice. select, apply and ok, open to check)to get it to stick to the sound card i wanted. think it was something to do with the motherboard audio driver interfering with the creative driver. there is an update on creatives site for XFi's also. http://www.creative.com/support/ downloads
