dual video cards installation problems

Hi,
I recently assembled a PC using an MSI K9N Platinum motherboard. I attempted to install 2 video cards XVGA Geforce 7300 xt in the first slot and XFX Geforce 6800 Xtreme in second slot. Installed 1 driver from Nvidia site. I have 3 monitors connected, 1 to the "6800". The monitor on the 6800 is not being detected. Can anyone offer some advice on installing these two cards?
Thank you.
Danny

If you're doing it in SLI, the cards need to be identical in order for it to work properly. And by the way i don't think you can use 3 monitors. It's two max. Even with SLI.

I believe there's a way to use the 2 cards independently for up to 4 monitors, but I don't know the details on how to set that up.

From what I've read it could be done, but I can't seem to find anything on how to do it.
Doesn't the OS detect automatically if everything is compatible and hooked up?

I think it's more of a Nvidia driver issue, not a Windows issue.
