Audio Volume too low

I recently received a newer computer from my cousin, with a bit more speed, memory, etc. I mainly use the PC for e-mail, music, picture, and the kids use it for games. The volume is really low. I've max-ed the volume and it's barely there. I'm just using little plug in speakers, with no power, and they worked fine on my other computer! I've updated drivers, and the volume is still low. There is no audio card, it's just running off the MB. Which is what my old computer did. Any suggestion?

You need powered computer speakers. Older sound cards had a small amp built in/new systems don't.

Sam's Club has powered speakers for computer systems, most of them including 5.1 sound system, for only $50.00. COSTCO used to sell them as well but I have not seen them there recently. The version being sold by Sam's lately has 5 speakers and an amp.

I really don't need a quadroponic speaker system. Anyway I can just add a cheap audio card with an amplifier so I can listen to my 80's music?

you should be able to find a dinky little set of cheap pwoered speakers for 10 to $20. May not end up being any more expensive than buying an old sound card, and def less trouble.

I give you.... cheap speakers!!

Just look at the extra pics for each one and verify it has a power cord.

It is much cheaper to buy a set of speakers than an audio card with amplifier. If you don't want surround sound check these:

Heck, you don't even need go to newegg to get a pair of speakers. Check out your local Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, etc. You'll easily find a pair of speakers there for less than $20 that will be decent enough for listening to music. HTH
