Realtek audio error

Hi All,

I got this biostar mobo NF61V Micro AM2, with an onboard sound. My problem here is, I got this error displayed saying "RtHDVCpl.exe - Unable to locate component. This application has failed to load because PROPSYS.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I've tried reinstalling the driver to no avail. Any ideas?

Here's the mobo spec.

Is your onboard sound working?
Do you have any hardware problems indicated by exclamation mark's in Device Manager?

The onboard sound is working fine. The error only comes out at first when Windows is started. I don't see any problem in the device manager as indicated by exclamation mark.

I got two systems running the same mobo, with the same problems.

Is this just an audio enhancement program?

How do I stop this program from loading?
How about this PROPSYS.dll. Can I just copy and paste this missing file.

Do you have this entry listed in startup>msconfig "RtHDVCpl.exe"?
Do you have a dial up modem installed?

Yes, I found an entry in msconfig, disabled it and the problem's gone.

I Googled "RtHDVCpl.exe" and "PROPSYS.DLL" and came up with some interesting results, most were concerned with audio, modems and spyware.

Drivers with free spyware? hmmm...

i got the same problem here i also got NF61V Biostar mobo and icannot detect the LAN driver properly ive already installed the LAN driver, my problem is i dont have the motherboard CD driver, ive just downloaded the driver in the Biostar usa website.

I just set up a PC with XP pro64 and after wrangling with downloading the latest drivers and 80+ patches from microsoft update I ended up with the propsys.dll error and no audio from one side. Found out after doing a few rollback drivers, uninstalls and reinstalls that it was the HD audio program from Realtek. It seems you have to uninstall both the driver from hardware control panel and the software from add/remove programs first then install the latest driver and software together Version r1.54 and it fixed my problem.
Just not sure what is running in 32 bit and what is running in 64 bit, task manager shows the stats. but is not trusted by me 100%. This PC is for my brother in Pearl Harbor and I am using it as a shake down for future 64 bit PC's that I plan to build. One thing for sure is that when compared to XP pro 32 bit operating system on the same PC I get a lot faster response and speed numbers from the 64 bit Op.

AMD3500+ 64 cpu
Biostar nf61v motherboard
1 gig Giel ddr2-800 ram
160 gig WD sata2 hdd

I plan to try a few different Motherboards and CPU's such as dual core x2 3800 , 4600 and 5000 along with some different PCI express 16 video cards and memory mfg's.

RR - any reason you don't try Intel on Intel for the stability? Now that Netburst is gone, there's no longer a performance advantage with AMD.

64 bit OS and drivers still running cool and stable , just hope that Microsoft dose not dump XP pro 64 like a red headed step child in favor of Vista. We shall see how compatable programs will be between the two of them...
I was doing some speed tests to compare my XP home32 with a 2800 32 bit cpu with the XP pro64 with a 3500 64 bit cpu , wow it spanks it's silicon. And speaking of silica Best Sand is not more than 10 miles from my house and is a large supplier of raw high purity silica for the chip industry, wierd stuff , snow white sand....
AMD cpus are stable as long as you dont overclock . The error I had was software related not hardware. Besides AMD cpus are much less expensive than Intel and I still hate them for dragging out the release time for technology just to put the screws to your wallet. Without AMD pushing the envelope we would be using 50mhz Intel dogs and spending $$$.

It may have been off topic but the classic cost issue is no longer the case as long as you are looking at processors that are $180 and higher. Core 2 Duo has rewritten the book that's pretty much been the case for the past few years. Other than that it's personal preference and always has been. I was just asking a question, not trying to start a debate. Intel processors on non-Intel chipsets are not stable in my opinion anyway and i'm a big Intel fan.
