s-video tv out / vivo question

hi guys --

i've got an msi mx440-8x video card in my pc (uses nvidia geforce4 chips), and am trying to hook it up to my (old -- no s-video input) tv to hopefully surf while riding my exercise bike (helps the time pass faster ). i've been learning the hard way, while pulling out my hair, about various s-video pin configurations & looking at millions of adapters on ebay and other sites-- usually the wrong ones. i already wasted some $ on a 4-pin adapter, not realizing that the keying is apparently different from what i need.

my video card has a 9 pin s-video jack and, supposedly, tv-out capability. the only adapter i can find right now is this one referred to as a "vivo cable". it's got the s-video male plug, with the right number of pins, a couple of yellow rca jacks, and a couple of other s-video connectors. will this thing work with my video card? the seller mentioned in his listing to ensure that your video card is "vivo compatible."

any info on this, or other advice about hooking up my pc to tv?

could i, by any chance, cut the key out of that 4-pin adapter i've already got & have it work ok in the 9 pin jack on my card?

thank you!

A quick and dirty approach I usually use for this sort of situation is that I get an S-video to RCA barrel adapter. Should be about $5-$7 at radioshack.

If you want audio too, you'll need a 1/8" stereo Y-adapter, a 1/8" stereo cable long enough to reach from the computer to the TV, and a 1/8" stereo to RCA Y-adapter (RCA cables are mono, so you will need two RCA connections from a stereo 1/8" cable). All of the cables together should run about $15-$25 at radioshack.
