avi files are b&w with WMP

Hi, thanks for reading.

I just installed a 7800 GS OC from BFG, and afterwards, all my movies and tv shows are black and white when opened with WMP. I updated to 11 last week or two, and don't remember actually watching any files after the update. Perhaps I erased a codec that I need either with the update or with the new driver install?

I've put in Divx, Xvid, and about 3 others that I can think of, but no change. Files play just fine in other media players. The volume is a bit lower, but I can always turn it up.

Still, for some strange reason, WMP is one of my favorite players, and I would like to have it working the way I think it should.

Is it possible that the files are B&W because of some strange kind of copyright enfringment protection thing?

Found the answer here.

http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forum.a...s-Media-Player

In WMP, under Tools>Options>Performance>Advanced, look in Video
Acceleration to see if "Use high quality mode" is selected - that's what
turned out to be the problem with me. Selecting "Use high quality mode"
caused the video to play in black and white

Sure enough, after I unchecked the box, everything looks just fine.

Thought others might be having the same problem soon and would like to know the fix.
