Installing new video card looks worse on lcd monitor
I've been searching, but my knowledge of video cards is minimal and Im having a hard time find an answer. Hope you guys can help
I am not sure of the exact brand or type of video cards they are....but I know they are both nvidia I have a 64mb currently running in my system, works fine with my viewsonic 510 lcd monitor I recently bought a 128mb nvidia and popped into the agp slot and it works but..... no matter what I change the resolution to the itmes either look too big or too small and fuzzy. I can also slight see lines running say from top right to bottom left. Do you think maybe the monitor cant handle the video card....Im at a loss wether I should go with a new monitor (since I want to upgrade to a widescreen) or maybe buy a new video card. I may eventually upgrade to Vista from my current XP Pro and that is why I tried to upgrade to the 128mb otherwise Id be fine with the 64mb, because im not a gamer nor do I work with any graphics.........sometimes Ill be addicted to the sims for a few months but thats as far as I go lol |

Did you install the correct drivers for the new card? In fact it probably wouldn't hurt to be sure and uninstall the old drivers first, then install the new ones.

Thanks I'll try that....It looked like the drivers for the new card were installed but then again I dont know how much you can trust windows detect and find new hardware feature.

Did you check device manager to see what it is reporting about your new card?

It's a good idea to make sure you download and install the latest drivers from nvidia, regardless. Typically drivers that ship with a video card or already in the windows driver database are quite out of date.

Ok so I wound up downloading an older set of drivers and installed them and now it works...although I can see some lines when playing SIMS but nothing really bad
now I have another issue that started a few days after getting this video card to work now when I boot up my computer....It goes right into bios and wants me to select my cpu speed I pick my cpu speed and then it proceeds to boot, a little slower then usual I might add any ideas? |
