Convert m4v to mp4

I would like to convert m4v (iTunes) format to mp4 format. Can anyone recommend sw that will convert directly instead of having to play the video and record in the mp4 format? I downloaded a trial version of Movavi Video Converter 5.0 but my test file was either corrupted or not a recognized format. My test file is not corrupted since it will play in Itunes.

Many thanks in advance.

Oreilly,

I want to take episodes of "Lost" that I buy from iTunes and burn a DVD. To do that I need mp4 format instead of m4v. Tunebite records as you play. What I'm trying to find is software that will convert directly without playing.

You can burn back up copies of iTunes videos to a data CD or DVD. However, you cannot burn iTunes videos to a DVD for playback on your home entertainment DVD player.

It has to do with the DRM, sorry.

GLC's right - you don't actually buy those episodes - you are buying the right to watch them on equipment approved under the DRM license. In this case that would be your computer (authorized via iTunes) or a video iPod (authorized via it's connection to your copy of iTunes).
