Dual Monitors Setup

Howdy,

I have a GF 7900GS enroute from Newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814150202

I have read back a few monts worth of posts concerning dual monitors and I think I have a grasp of it.

Tell me if I got this right:

Once I have the new card installed, I just hook up the 2nd monitor and use the Windows Control Panel>display properties to enable the dual screens/split screens? This will essentially double my desktop space, and it simply spread out over the 2 monitors, right?

My current monitor is a 19" LCD with a 1280x1024 native max resolution. I have a few older CRT monitors kicking around that I would like to set this up with instead of purchasing a 2nd LCD at this time. As long as those monitors can get to that screen resolution, there shouldnt be any problems right?

Thanks!

Resolutions can be independently set.

I have the same sort of set up: 19" LCD and a 17" CRT. You can get creative with the arrangement of the monitors and what to display on each.

I would strongly suggest using ultramon, it's pretty awesome stuff and lets you run independent wallpapers and screensavers automatically.

Fully concur with that. One of the most useful features I've found is that it gives the second screen a 'smart' taskbar - so that you can minimise open programs and documents on that screen to that screen's own taskbar. There's a trial version you can look at:

If you don't want to get Ultramon, you can use Nview to do some things - that comes with the card.

Ultramon is really cool, I always wondered if there was a simple program that did just what it does, I love the taskbar on the second screen, and having two different wallpapers is sweet. Cant believe I didn't find this earlier.
