Headset problem

I have a Compaq SR1910NX with onboard audio. When I plug a headset in the right side will not work. I have checked all audio settings and they are all fine. I've tried other headsets that I know are good and still nothing. I should mention that my speakers work fine, left and right. Any suggestions?

Yes they do. That's what's really got me confused.
