Video card upgrade
My system is going on 3 years old now, and I'm starting to look into some upgrades (which I had in mind and left room for when I first built it). After more RAM, my next upgrade might be a better video card.
Here is one that I looked at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102057 My question is, would this card, or one similar to it, be a good match with the other components I have? How would it compare to the 9600XT I have now? I also have another 2x256 MB of ram to put in it. The PSU is 350W, so that might be a limitation. Any comments or opinions would be appreciated.

That card would be a good upgrade. The PSU is probably OK if it is an Antec but may want to replace it for a good 400w since the 350 has some age on it.

The 350 will handle it fine.

That's a nice card choice. You could try using the 350w power supply to see if it works first - that's what I would do at least. Usually recommended wattages are based on average full loads. Edit: Also I now see GLC says it is fine, so in that case, I'd go for that card.

If not, at least an Antec will fail gracefully and not blow other stuff up with it.

Read some Antec reviews today and the present crop of Smartpower 2.0's are running across frequent failures. (I'd heard about this on the board here but didn't realize how many were reporting this). Have used two Antec EarthWatts this last couple weeks,as replacements, and I guess they are not having the issues.(Made by Seasonic?) Have two Antec 2.0 psu's (on my own stuff) and absolutely no problems!

Right, but my point is Smartpowers don't blow up - they just quietly fail.
